It may be hard to believe, but the Fourth of July is almost here! This year's celebrations will likely be a bit different from previous celebrations. As many of us continue to practice safe social distancing, a lot of big festivals, parties, and cookouts have been cancelled. But that doesn't mean you can't still have an amazing July 4th weekend from home!
To help you plan out the itinerary, here are some fun, easy ways to celebrate the holiday from home.
Celebrating the 4th from Home
-
Flex Your Culinary Skills! Just you and the immediate family this holiday? Not a problem! You can still plan a big cookout with all your favorite BBQ apps and entrees on the menu. If you don't have a grill, opt for using the stove top or oven. Break out all your favorite recipes and even try a new one! Here are some fun and delicious USA- themed recipes you can try out this weekend.
-
Fireworks! Depending on your state's laws, you may be able to pick up some fireworks at your local store to try out in the driveway. Be EXTRA cautious when setting them off, of course! Having your own fireworks display is a great way to celebrate on a smaller, socially distant scale!
-
Play Lawn Games! Pick up a badminton set, bocce ball set, croquet, or corn hole game and start a family tournament! It may seem childish at first, but these games are a great way to get everyone up and doing something fun, especially after months of sitting around the house.
-
Watch Some Patriotic Movies! This is a good option if your kids are a little older, or if you're spending the holiday solo. Pop some popcorn and have a movie marathon! Forrest Gump, National Treasure, The Patriot, and Hidden Figures are all great choices, although it is definitely worth noting that Hamilton will be on Disney+ on July 3rd!
-
Tune In! There will still be some fantastic television programs being broadcast on July 4th, including some amazing performers you won't want to miss! A Capital Fourth on PBS will feature Renee Fleming, Patti Labelle, and more! Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks will be broadcast on NBC and showcase a 25-minute production of small firework shows from different boroughs of NYC! Check out more options here!
