5 Ways to Keep You and Your Dog Entertained at Home

5 Ways to Keep You and Your Dog Entertained at Home

GiftWorksPlus |

There’s no doubt that “staying in” all the time starts to get dull and boring. But one thing is for sure, our pets are definitely benefiting from the 24/7 attention they’ve been getting these days! If you’re staying in and looking for fun ways to keep your pet entertained, healthy, and active, here are five of our favorite games to play to help you pass the time.

Need to Keep Your Dog Entertained? Try These Fun Games!

  1. Hide the Treat! Take a single treat and cut it into tiny pieces. Then have your dog “sit” and “stay” while you hide them around your house or apartment. Let him get the scent and then watch him sniff and find all the treats you’ve hidden. You can also play this game with your pet’s favorite toy or toys.
  2. Tug of War: You likely remember this game in gym class, but you’re never too old to play this with your favorite furry companion. Whether you already have a toy rope for your pet, or you decide to use one of his favorite toys or an old bath towel, this is a fun game to play indoors.
  3. Hide and Seek: Like hide the treat, this is a fun game to play with your pet and will keep them on the move. Have your dog “sit” and “stay” in an area, so you have time to hide somewhere in your home. When you’re hidden, call your pet and see if he can find you. Another way to do this, is to use a tennis ball to distract your pup. When you toss it into a room and your pet goes after it, run and hide in an area and see if he can find where you are. This will be a great workout for your pet and you, as well.
  4. Train Your Pup: Staying in may offer a nice opportunity to help your pet brush up on some good behavior habits, like “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “shake hand,” “kiss”, or “roll over.”
  5. Have a Puppy Photoshoot! With everything happening in the world right now, bringing some cheer to friends and loved ones with the help of your pet might just be the best “feel-good” medicine. Everyone loves puppy pictures, so why not take photos of your dog playing the games mentioned above or just hanging out at home with you. Include a special caption of what your pup is thinking and send it off! Check out our great pet photography tips post to make sure you always take the best pics!
