With all the fantastic new cameras coming out in 2019, there will be plenty of opportunities to take some beautiful photos this spring! With higher quality cameras, however, it’s important to know how to care and clean them in such a way that won’t damage the lenses or sensors.
Tips on How To Professionally Clean your New Camera
-
Use auto-clean! Check to see if your camera has an auto-clean mode; if so, this mode can remove some dust or dirt from the camera’s sensor. Be sure that your camera is completely charged though! If your camera’s battery runs out mid-clean, it can damage the sensor.
-
Find the right cleaning products! Camera sensor cleaning can be tricky, so you will want to be sure to have all the right products. Use lint-free cleaning swabs specific for your camera and sensor size and purchase sensor cleaning solution and a small hand-held bulb blower. A small head lamp will also help to see inside the camera and sensor loupes can magnify the sensor and make it easier to check for dust.
-
Purchase a microfiber lens cloth for your camera. If the lens needs to be cleaned, use a special cloth specifically designed for your lens. Begin with very little contact to the lens and then slowly increase pressure to remove residue. Just remember to be careful!
-
Consider your environment! It's also important that when cleaning your camera, you're in an environment that is free of dust or drafts that could potentially blow debris into your camera.
Of course, when in doubt, it's always okay to take your camera to a professional if you aren’t 100% confident in your abilities.
