GiftWorksPlus National Park Series: Acadia National Park
GiftWorksPlus |
If you’re still looking for a getaway this summer, think about taking a road trip out to a national park! National parks provide absolutely beautiful landscapes, chances to see wildlife, and a perfect excuse to get out and enjoy nature.
Acadia National Park, located on the Atlantic Coast of Maine, is the oldest American national park east of the Mississippi River and the first park where land was donated to the federal government. During the early 1900’s, some wealthy people started to buy land in the area to keep it from being overdeveloped and make sure that the public could still enjoy it. Two men, Charles W. Eliot and George Bucknam Dorr became notable advocates to preserve the land and convince other wealthy landowners to donate their land. John D. Rockefeller donated 11,000 acres of his land to the park.
Today, Acadia National Park covers nearly 47,000 acres of land, most of which is on Mount Desert Island. The park features glacial mountain ridges (including Cadillac Mountain, the East Coast’s tallest mountain), granite peaks, lakes, ponds, waterfalls and even a fjord. In fact, that fjord is the only one on the Atlantic Coast in America. Acadia National Park has more than 120 miles of hiking trails and has campsites so you can spend several days exploring the park.
So if you decide to pack your bags and head over to Acadia National Park, make sure to pack a camera to document your road trip and hiking adventures! GiftWorksPlus has national park picture frames, including a few engraved frames specifically of Acadia National Park. These wooden picture frames are perfect for capturing your favorite memories from your trip. Not only that, but a picture frame from GiftWorksPlus also is a thoughtful, personalized gift idea for family members or for those you went on the trip with.
