More Tips for Taking Better Photographs from GiftWorksPlus
GiftWorksPlus |
In our series on taking better photographs, GiftWorksPlus has covered the fact that you must have your camera, memory cards, and power source (batteries and/or charger) with you. Otherwise, those special times will pass by unrecorded forever. In this GiftWorksPlus blog post, assuming you have the three basic items with you, we move on to three tips for making your photographs more interesting. These include:
1. Follow the rule of thirds
2. Focus on your subject
3. Move in closer
The rule of thirds sounds complicated, but really isn’t. When viewing a potential photograph through the camera eyepiece or on a screen, imagine there are tic-tac-toe lines drawn on what you are seeing. Instead of placing the main subject of your photograph smack in the middle square, choose one of the others. Place the subject in the left third or the right third of the grid, the top third or the bottom third. This simple tip adds visual interest to your photographs.
Next, really focus on your subject. Choose your main point of focus, whether it is a person, animal, object, or landscape. Frame up the subject in your lens and cut out the extra details that may detract from your image. For example, if there is a certain mountain peak that captures your fancy, focus your picture on it instead of the whole mountain range.
Once you know what your main subject is and where you are going to place it/him/her in your photograph, take the picture; then move in closer to really capture the subject. If you stand too far back, the photograph loses focus on the primary subject. By nearly filling your picture with the main subject, the viewer easily recognizes and appreciates what was important to you when you captured the moment.
Finally, to help a viewer fully appreciate the image you carefully photographed, choose a custom picture frame from GiftWorksPlus to display it. At GiftWorksPlus.com, you will find a wide array of engravable frames and picture gift ideas for any occasion.
