GiftWorksPlus National Park Series: Denali National Park
GiftWorksPlus |
There’s still time before summer ends to head out and explore some famous national parks! And if you’re feeling especially adventurous, a trip out to Alaska’s Denali National Park and Reserve might be the perfect spot.
Denali National Park is home to the highest peak in North America, Denali. Known in the past as Mount McKinley, in 2015 the original name, Denali, was put back into official use. Denali means “The High One,” and is a fitting name for the 20,320-foot mountain. Though the mountain might be the most famous feature of the park, there are many other amazing aspects of Denali National Park that make the trip worthwhile.
Denali National Park offers unique glimpses of wildlife and natural formations. For instance, Sable Pass is a popular place to spot grizzly bears and caribou are a common site at the Sony Hill Overpass. Visitors to the park might also get to see wolves and the wood frog – the only amphibian inhabitant in the entire park. These wood frogs are unique in their survival of the harsh Alaskan winters – they freeze solid during the winter, their heart stops beating, and their lungs don’t work until the springtime thaw!
Visitors can also spend their time hiking and taking in the beautiful scenic sights of the park. While Denali has a few marked hiking trails, the park aims to give people a chance to explore the wilderness, and doesn’t have as many marked trails. If you’re inexperienced with off-trail hiking, it’s recommended to get more information or talk to a park ranger before going off trails on your own.
If you are in the Alaskan wilderness, you are most certainly going to want to take pictures of the wildlife and scenic landscapes you encounter! GiftWorksPlus carries engraved picture frames that are perfect for framing your photos of your time spent at Denali National Park. GiftWorksPlus has many nature picture frames that can hold your favorite summer vacation pictures – plus, they make great trip souvenirs or personalized gifts.
