These wood frogs are unique in their survival of the harsh Alaskan winters – they freeze solid during the winter, their heart stops beating, and their lungs don’t work until the springtime thaw!   Visitors can also spend their time hiking and taking in the beautiful scenic sights of the park. While Denali has a few marked hiking trails, the park aims to give people a chance to explore the wilderness, and doesn’t have as many marked trails.
