At GiftWorksPlus, we offer unique gifts in themes for specific life events, hobbies, friends, and even furry friends. Our custom frames are available in such themes as wedding frames, holiday frames, school frames, graduation frames, sports frames, and of course, pet frames! And now that we have officially entered into the “dog days” of summer, the sweltering heat can create uncomfortable conditions for our favorite companions. So, we figured we’d share some tips on how to keep your dog cool during the hottest days of summer.
Here’s some helpful tips that we found!
Make sure you keep the house cool: When your dog is home alone, keep the AC on and drapes closed during the day. If you don’t have air conditioning, be sure to keep windows open to allow air circulation. It can also be helpful to buy a cooling vest for your dog to avoid overheating.
Check the weather: Keep track of which times are best to take your dog out for some exercise. Chances are the cooler time are either in the early mornings or evenings. Be sure to limit your fetch time to these cooler times and always have water close by to keep you and your companion hydrated!
Make sure there’s a spot of shade nearby: Many people let their dogs out in their backyards for long periods throughout the day. This can be extremely dangerous as temperatures get higher! Make sure there is a tree nearby to provide adequate shading and air flow to keep your dog cool. Having a kiddie pool of cool water is also a great thing to keep in your backyard to allow your pup to keep cool and hydrated. Just make sure you're keeping an eye on your pup.
Most importantly, remember to NEVER leave your dog in the car! Not even for a couple of minutes or with the windows cracked. Temperatures in your car get really hot, really fast! Avoid doing this even on the cooler days of the year.
Of course, don’t forget to enjoy the summer weather with your dog! Get out and about but be smart about how you do it! Then visit our website to find some custom keychains and engraved pet frames to hold pictures of the fun times you’ve shared with your dog this summer!
