Though it's hard to believe it, our summer is already coming to a close. That's why now, more than ever, it's important to soak up every last bit of summer vacation left before the school year ahead. If you're looking for ideas on some last-minute family trips before the start of the school year, we've got you covered! Check out our list of the top 4 best national parks to visit this month with family or classmates!

Best National Park Destinations

  1. Yellowstone National Park: Spanning through Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, Yellowstone is an outdoor-lover’s dream come true! The park was actually the very first National Park in existence, making it a "must-see" for hikers, campers, fishers, or just about anyone who loves the outdoors. It provides plenty of photo opportunities, too, with its beautiful hiking trails, hot springs, campgrounds, and plenty of wildlife. You can even take guided horseback rides through the park.
  2. Grand Canyon National Park: We had to include the Grand Canyon on our list! There is truly no other place like it. Of course, you can take the traditional guided tours, but there are also plenty of options for hikers, bikers, walkers, or those just looking to sit and stare at nature’s wonder.
  3. Smoky Mountain National Park: The Great Smoky Mountains span across East Tennessee and across the North Carolina border. While this park is a perfect destination all year round, we have to admit there is something special about seeing the fall colors. You’ll definitely want to take pictures of the changing leaves, waterfalls, and any black bears you may come across on your hikes.
  4. Valley Forge National Park: For those outdoorsmen and women who love a little history lesson on their vacation, there is no better option than Valley Forge in historic Pennsylvania. The park is the former encampment of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War (during the years 1777-1778), and it offers guided tours of the encampment, as well as plenty of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
