Plan the Ultimate Summer Road Trip

GiftWorksPlus |

After a year of being quarantined and maintaining social distancing, it is finally feeling a bit safer to get out and travel again! While you may not feel ready to hop on a plane and jet set across the globe, that doesn’t mean you can’t plan an amazing trip. Sometimes it’s not necessarily about the destination, but the journey itself! If you’re looking to get out and explore new places, a road trip is the perfect option for you! This week at GiftWorksPlus, we wanted to share some tips to planning an amazing, stress-free road trip.

  1. Create a loose plan. Whether you’re road tripping to Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, or the next state over, don’t forget that part of the fun of a road trip is stopping when you see something interesting. Once you map your route, leave a little leeway for you to pull over and check out that little diner or the world’s biggest ball of yarn!
  2. Remember to plan breaks. If your route doesn’t include a lot of fun places for sightseeing, remember it is important to take breaks anyway. Even if you don’t quite need to fill up the tank yet, it is important to get out and stretch your legs, walk a bit, and get some fresh air every few hours.
  3. Create a good playlist. A good playlist can make the time (and miles) go by much faster! Include favorite songs to sing along with, relaxing songs for when you get stuck in a traffic jam, and some good podcasts when you want to get lost in a story.
  4. Pack your food! Of course, part of the fun of road tripping is trying a bunch of different restaurants, but make sure to pack some healthy snacks. It’s tempting to grab a bag of chips or candy at the gas station, but you’ll start to feel tired really quick after that! Pack some bottles of water, fresh fruit, and even some veggies and hummus. It may seem boring but trust us, you’ll feel much better, making it easier to enjoy your road trip!
  5. Rest when you need to rest. Sometimes you just need to pull over and sleep. Driving through the night can be a good idea to avoid traffic and make good time, but pushing yourself when your body is telling you to stop? Don’t do it! Your experience will be WAY better, and safer if you are well rested and able to enjoy the journey!

A road trip is a fantastic way to travel, clear your head, spend time with family, or just enjoy some quality alone time. One thing is for sure, you will definitely want to take a few photos of all the wonders you encounter along the way! Be sure to check out our travel frames at our GiftWorksPlus website.
